Years ago when my spiritual journey began in earnest, I noticed that the same process I was going through to complete a painting was the same process I was going through in my desire to live a more artistic life. I had discovered The Urantia Book in our public library in 1967 and was mightily inspired when I read Jesus' life and teachings, including the wonderful papers recording the Greek Philosopher, Rodan's, words about the Art of Living that he was witnessing in Jesus' life.In the graphic arts, they make use of overlays; A photograph of a painting is made into a transparency and then the colors are separated onto acetate sheets. One sheet of Cyan records the blues, one records the magenta or the reds. One sheet records the yellows and one records the blacks. These sheets separate the colors for the printer to print individually. Each sheet overlays the other perfectly and together they complete the full color of the artwork. In mind, I realized that if we were able to lay out a picture of the principles of producing any artwork, and then carefully lay over it the principles for living an artistic life we would find they fit very nicely. I began my research and realized that for every chapter of the steps for achieving the art of art there was so much in the Urantia Revelation to show:how Jesus had goals and patterns to follow, had used the tools of Life, had visualized what he was going to do in his bestowal life experience, had prepared for his mission, perfected his communication skill with his Father in Heaven, solved problems, experienced disappointments, enjoyed success, was filled with love and service for all, and eventually gave us a recorded history of his life, andin many many ways bore the fruits of the Spirit of an Artistic Life. Jesus truly achieved the Art of Living in his short 36 years of life on our earth. This book was written with the desire to help the reader to desire to also learn to live an artistic life like our Savior, Jesus Christ.
